Dembo Darboe commonly called Touray Darboe from Kafuta in Kombo East is still being held at the National Intelligence AgencyDembo Darboe for 182 days on Saturday after being arrested on the 16th April, 2016 at his residence.

Despite all efforts by the family including his wife’s visit to Foroyaa to search for him, they do not still have any positive information about their loved one.

Talking to his younger brother, Balla Darboe, on 13th October, he said they have not made progress in accessing him after he was taken away by the NIA operatives who assured his immediate return after a brief questioning at the time of his arrest.

“Throughout his detention it was only one time one of our sisters met him at the NIA headquarters in Banjul where they exchanged words to some extent but since then no one has accessed him. We could not do anything more because we are desperate. We are praying hard for God to protect him for us. We have appealed to the authorities for his release but up to now there is no response from them,” said Balla Darboe.

Dembo was said to have been arrested by the NIA on the 16th April 2016, a day the executive members of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and supporters were arrested including the party leader Lawyer Ousainou Darboe while staging a peaceful protest in demand for Solo Sandeng to be released either dead or alive.

However, the family said Dembo was on that day in the village and did not take part in any protest staged by anybody. So they are surprised by his arrest and subsequent detention.
