Defence to File No Case in Sheikh Cham’s ‘Obstruction’ Trial

The defence counsel representing Mr. Sheikh Cham, a torture complainant who is accused of obstruction by the personnel of Sheikh ChamDrug Law Enforcement Agency –The Gambia (DLEA-G) told the Court that they are going to submit a ‘No Case to answer’ at next adjourned date, as prosecution brought its case to a close on Monday, December 21, 2015.

This development was made known yesterday, when the matter was adjourned following the prosecution’s announcement before the trial magistrate Kijera at the Kanifing Magistrates’ court that they are closing their case.

Meanwhile, the defence counsel lawyer Banjugu applied for an adjournment to enable him to prepare his submission for a ‘no case to answer’.

Subsequently, the matter was adjourned to 13th January, 2016 for the defence to proceed with its submission of a no case to answer.
