The first prosecution witness (PW1), Fabakary Kalleh, the Airport Manager, on Monday, February 08, 2016 concluded his crossFabakary Kalleh 2 examination by the defence counsel Borry S. Touray in the false information trial of Borry J. Saidy, former Air Traffic Services Manager at the Banjul International Airport.

Inspector Gibba represented the IGP in the case before Principal Magistrate Hilary Abeke of Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

Responding to questions posed by Lawyer Touray, the witness confirmed that he had received some training on aviation related programmes in which he was issued with certificates. He said one of the trainings he attended was in Dakar, Senegal, and organised by the International Civil Aviation Organisation and the Federal Aviation Administration. He confirmed that he did not receive such trainings from an institute. He added that he received such management related trainings after his elevation to the position of airport manager.

“Now putting your BSc degree aside, you have no training whatsoever in any aviation related training?” asked lawyer Touray. “That’s true,” replied Mr. Kalleh.

“And it is also correct that the course you did at the University was an academic one?” defence counsel further asked. The witness responded in the positive.

“Now what is your present grade as Airport Manager?” asked counsel. PW1 responded that he is in Grade C. In a follow up question, he answered that he was in Grade F before his assumption of the current position.

The case will continue today, 9th February, 2016.
