Nenneh Freda Gomez and Lamin Sey of Global Hearts Medical Mission (Global HOMM) were on Monday 22nd November 2021 arraigned at a lower court in Brusubi, Kanifing Municipality and subsequently granted them bail.
These two were charged on three counts namely, conspiracy to commit misdemeanor, criminal trespass and obstructing a police officer.
They were granted bail by the court after paying one thousand dalasis (D1,000) each and also provided a Gambian surety each.
It could be recalled that on Wednesday 17th November 2021 the High Court ruled in favour of the duo and Gilbert Manga for their unlawful arrest on 11th October 2021.
The Global HOMM has been providing medical services to Gambians before they established their hospital in 2007/8. They continued providing medical services to the public until their property was seized by the former Regime of Yahya Jammeh in 2010.
Since the change of Government in 2017, Global HOMM has been following all the legal roots to reclaim their property. The property located at Bijilo was first possessed by the Green Boys back in 2010 and occupied by the Anti-Crime Unit after the change of Government.
The Kanifing Magistrate Court and High Court have both ruled in favour of the Global HOMM in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
When the new government came, the Anti-Crime Unit was stationed there but later vacated the property this year. Since the Anti-Crime Unit moved, there has been a standoff between the Global HOMM and the Government. Global HOMM has been trying to possess their property with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office.
