The Banjul High Court, presided over by Justice Simeon Ateh Abi, has dismissed the ‘no case to answer’ submission filed by Mr.Alhaji Abdoulie Ceesay, Manager Teranga FM Abdoulie Ceesay, the Managing Director of Taranga FM Radio Station, yesterday, 16 February, 2016.

The Director of Public Prosecutions appeared for the state, while Lawyer Combeh Gaye-Coker represented the accused person.

Delivering his ruling, Justice Abi said the accused is standing trial on 6 counts of  ‘Sedition’ and 1 count of ‘Publication of False News’ and that he pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The trial judge said having reviewed the evidence before him and after going through the submissions of both the prosecution and the defence counsel, he is of the view that accused has a case to answer and that he has to offer an explanation to the charges leveled against him.

Consequently, Justice Abi dismissed the ‘no case to answer’ submission and ordered the accused to open his defence.  He also ruled that from now on, the case will be heard every day until the conclusion of the defence. He then adjourned the case to the 22, 23, 24, 25 and 29 February, 2016, for the defendant to testify in his defence.
