Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH), Gambia’s main referral hospital, is engulfed with controversies as the Chairman of the Board has been dismissed.

Foroyaa has been reliably informed that Dr Adama Sallah has been dismissed from his role. This is a story this medium has been investigating after receiving allegations of mismanagement of funds by top hospital management officials.

The dismissed Board Chairman was outspoken about the corruption and other problems within the hospital. He made several allegations about corruption and mismanagement, pointing fingers mainly at the Deputy Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, and a few others. There was a report that the Government had called for a special audit of the Hospital some days ago.

Dr. Karamo Sanyang has been appointed as the New Interim Board Chairman. Several authorities within the ranks of the Hospital have been contacted to comment on Dr Sallah’s dismissal, but they declined. Follow Foroyaa as we discuss what Dr Sallah said and other issues in-depth. Foroyaa has been following the matter for the past months.
