Consumers want goods that are of good quality, accessible and affordable. The construction industry is the backbone of the real estate services of the country. Many people, especially Gambians in the Diaspora, are relying on the real estate services to build settlements for their return. Many people in the Diaspora are also turning to The Gambia to change residence.
Cement importation is the cornerstone of the building enterprises. Complaints of unfair practice in regulating the cement industry abound. The duty of the Gambia Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is to look into complaints of unfair practices, conduct investigation and provide remedies. One should rely on the advice of such a commission before making a decision to regulate a particular industry.
All these businesses should also be linked to the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and complaints should be launched with the Chamber for getting the authorities to do what is reasonable and justifiable in a rule based society.
