Omar A. Jallow alias OJ while addressing a huge crowd in Farafenni in the North Bank Region on the 17th November, assured the coalition sympathizers of fuel price 
reduction to the level of the global market.
OJ and his fellow parties’ leaders including Adama Barrow that formed the coalition were all part of the selected speakers in the metropolitan town.
Earlier at the rally, Kebba Jadama, a native of Farafenni thanked people for making such a record turnout at the coalition meeting. However, he said the most important thing is the vote and urged the public to vote for Adama Barrow.
Aji Yam Secka, the deputy party leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) called on women to vote for Coalition 2016 candidate Adama Barrow arguing that the coalition is there for them.
Talking on the poor quality of education, she said “teachers’ and civil servants’ salaries are poor and many could not even get a single bag of rice out of their monthly pay scale. There is noise of free education but there is none of it because study and books still remain unsolved.”
Madam Secka assured that in a brief term of Barrow’s time, a lot of problems will be solved including salary and quality education. She argued that Jammeh’s government is pretending that they are working on poverty alleviation when they are not. She said the coalition government will put in place proper policies to work towards eradicating poverty in the Gambia.
Omar Jallow, alias OJ said Farafenni is a business centre where many people meet including the Senegal but due to high taxes on businesses the town is losing it. “Fuel prices have been reduced in the global market a long time and while Senegal has reduced prices for at least 3 times in a year the Gambia could not level it to the global market,” said Jallow.
He said instead of President Jammeh putting up efforts to help out poor farmers, he is giving out monies to foreigners just for fun.
Halifa Sallah, the spokesperson for coalition 2016 tasked the people of Farafenni to be part of the new born Gambia by voting decisively for Adama Barrow on the 1st December, 2016. He said to end impunity; the Gambians must change the Gambia.
“We decided to come together because the Gambian people demanded for it. We are led by Adama Barrow as the independent candidate. Because of the agreement, Adama Barrow resigned from the UDP for the independent candidate and will serve for 3 years only. The coalition department will put the economy of the Gambia on the right footing, reform the constitution and other necessities. After the end of the term, all parties will go back to the various parties to contest for election.”
Adama Barrow, the standard bearer of Coalition 2016 described the unity among the opposition as historic.
“We agreed to form a single candidate and I am the youngest among the experienced leaders. I am proud, optimistic and fearless because I have around me the intellect with that verse technical knowledge in politics and that means this coalition government will be a success,” he said.
