Chiefs and deputy governors are very significant in managing the affairs of districts and regions. They are supposed to serve all the people without fear or favour, affection or ill-will. They should not be under the control of any political force in the community. They should be neutral.
Hence, it would constitute abuse of authority by any chief or deputy governor if they entertain any selection of a particular candidate to stand for elections.
Political parties, Coalition stakeholders and independent political aspirants have the right and duty to select candidates for elections. It is therefore necessary for all other forces to allow these stakeholders to select their candidates.
This is the way forward.
