The Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG), in line with its corporate social responsibility, has donated desktop computers and laptops to Gambia Postal Services (GAMPOST) to support the institution’s digital transformation efforts. The presentation ceremony was held on Friday at GAMPOST Headquarters in Banjul.

Sainabou Mbye, Head of Customer Service and Marketing at GAMPOST, expressed gratitude for the timely donation.

“The donation came at an opportune moment when all the beneficiaries are in dire need of these devices. We are endlessly grateful to CBG, and we will ensure that the items are put to good use,” she said.

Lamin Cham, Managing Director of GAMPOST, also welcomed the support and assured that the equipment would be instrumental in enhancing their operations.

“We will make every effort to ensure that GAMPOST undergoes digital transformation, so that we can operate in line with international standards,” Cham stated.

He highlighted that the postal industry is now a global, interconnected sector, where disruptions in one area can impact the entire system. He thanked CBG for the donation, emphasizing that the equipment would significantly improve service delivery and operational efficiency.

Speaking on behalf of CBG, First Deputy Governor Abdoulie Sirreh Jallow, who also serves as the Board Chair of GAMPOST, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to supporting key national institutions.

“We are gathered here today to officially hand over a set of laptops and desktops to GAMPOST, an institution that plays a crucial role in national communication and financial services,” Jallow said.

He stressed that CBG recognizes the importance of modernizing institutions like GAMPOST to support the country’s digital economy.

“In an era where digital transformation is rapidly shaping economies, ensuring that our public institutions are adequately equipped with modern technology is imperative,” Jallow noted.

He added that the donation is part of CBG’s broader corporate social responsibility, aimed at promoting digital financial inclusion and improving service delivery across all sectors.

“When GAMPOST is well-equipped, it can leverage technology to enhance efficiency, improve customer service, and expand its role in financial services, such as money transfers and payment facilitation,” Jallow explained.

He concluded by emphasizing the importance of digital innovation in financial services, stating, “The future of financial services is digital, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no institution is left behind.”
