The Independent Electoral Commission on 9 March announced the holding of a by election on 28 April 2016 at Sare Ngai Ward, Wuli West Constituency. Nomination is to take place on 14 April 2016.
This follows the demise of the erstwhile Councillor for Sare Ngai Ward Mr. Menkeh Ebrima Barrow. An IEC press release further stated the by-election is to fill the said vacant seat in the Basse Area Council.
The late Mr. Menkeh Barrow first contested the Sare Ngai Ward Councillor’s seat in a by-election under the ticket of NADD in 2010 but lost to Alkali Kebbeh of APRC party.
Mr. Menkeh Barrow again contested the Ward councillorship election in March 2013 under an Independent ticket and won. He was serving as Ward Councillor for Sare Ngai Ward until his demise.
