Brikama United has resumed league action after the club’s team bus was
involved in an accident last week.
The team was heading for a scheduled domestic league match when it collided into a car along the Jimpex road. There were no deaths but slight injuries to players with the team bus-driver the only one to have been hospitalised before being later released.
Players, following the accident, were routinely subjected to medical check up before being let go their various families.
However, on the back of that road incident, Brikama United players have resumed league action adding mystery to Bakau United championship woes with two goals from Sainey Bojang and play-maker Bully Drammeh enough to inflict damage on the red half of Bakau, in Brikama.
The win intensified the race for the title as United close the gap to league leaders Gamtel to three points as of Sunday.
Real de Banjul, in another domestic tie, moved joint top of the table with Gamtel after trouncing sixth-placed Hawks as scorer via a free-kick Famara Jarju sends his tally for the season to five.
This sharing of the top spot however depends on the outcome of Gamtel’s match as the telecom giants were in action yesterday evening against Bombada.
Tapha Manneh’s Gamtel are ardent on bringing a successful end to their long-standing league trophy drought this campaign but must win the rest of the remaining five matches to stand a chance with Real on a game in hand.
Elsewhere Serrekunda United bettered their hopes of avoiding the drop by fending off Interior whom they held to a goalless draw at the Serrekunda East mini-stadium.
Wallidan, finally, picked all points breezing past Armed Forces on a 1-0 score.
