Badou Jack this week became the first ever Gambian to be awarded the Nevada Fighter Of the Year.Boxer Badou

The 31-year-old beat his own promoter undefeated Mayweather Jr to the prize who’d won it the last three years since inception of the award in 2013.

Jack who also enter the history books as the first ever Gambia to be WBC Super-middleweight champion, was surprised after receiving the news.

Badou’s award comes on the back of his brilliant title defence show against George Groves whom he whipped convincingly.

Dubbed The Ripper, the Gambian though was held to a tie by Lucian Bute recently in a controversial contest but managed to retain his belt.

Bute is accused of using performance-enhancing drugs  in that fight which if found to be true could see Badou awarded the points.
