Sutusinjang were dealt a rude awakening after they got stunned by minnows Gamtel/Gamcel of Bajana.
A 1-0 lead did the trick courtesy of a 35th minute Ansu Camara’s strike. The victory was greeted with a tumultuous celebration as Bajana brought an end to their hoodoo of losing numerous times to Sutusinjang.
Abdoulie Badjie, Bajana’s gaffer, was all delight after his charges rode over their long standing nemesis consequently bouncing back on the back of an opening match defeat.
‘We lost our first game and we were to meet Sutusinjang who are a difficult side. I told the lads to try win the game and fortunately they did. I am happy for this record. We have always been losing or drawing Sutusinjang and now to get to win is a record. Plaudits go to my players, fans and the team’s board. We are preparing for our next match against Bullock B,’ Badjie says in his post-match comment.
Sutusinjang’s coach Omar Manga rued his team’s missed chances but insists it was a fair game despite the defeat.
“I accept what happened. It was a test of our faith. God-willing we will bounce back as usual. I only crave fans indulgence in this trying moment and surely the team will regain its winning form again. It’s football,’ he said.
Beferet and Bullock A settled on a 2-2 stalemate in the other group game.
