The Gambia Court of Appeal has adjourned the appeal of Fadi Mazegi and Mohamed Bazzi.

The duo has instituted an appeal against the decision of the Commission of Inquiry that has been set up by President Adama Barrow’s Government to investigate the financial dealings and assets of former President Jammeh and his close associates, including Companies etc, otherwise famously known as the ‘Janneh Commission.’

The Appeals Court made an order in the ruling of 14th November for adoption of briefs.

Bazzi and Mazegi on the first injunction, appealed for an order granting stay of execution of the Interim Order. On the second appeal point, they sought for an interlocutory injunction to restraining the Commission from acting on the two interim orders dated 13th October 2017 or taking any action against them (Bazzi and Mazegi), that would prejudice the status quo pending the determination of the Appeal, filed at the Gambia Court of Appeal.

On the third ground of appeal, Bazzi and Mazegi sought for an interlocutory injunction to restraining the Commission from further issuing summons to attend and give evidence or to produce documents, plans or books or making any further inquiries into or dealing with the businesses, assets, shares, stocks or other interests by themselves, officers, servants or agents or otherwise howsoever, on or against them (Bazzi and Mazegi), pending the determination of the Appeal filed at the Gambia Court of Appeal.

On the fifth appeal point, Bazzi and Mazegi sought an order directing the Commission to make available, all the records of proceedings and / or interim or other reports of findings to date of the Commission, to the Court. On the final appeal point, Bazzi and Mazegi sought for further or other orders as this court shall deem fit, to make under these circumstances.
