The Gambia-Senegal authorities in partnership with the Senegalo-Gambia joint border commission met on Wednesday 11 
November, 2015 at Tranquil village to inform villagers that a lasting solution to the border dispute has been found.
According to them, the technicians went and saw the place and observed that there was a solution.
They indicated that the reason why they could not do the demarcation on the same day was precisely due to the difference in the type of equipment to be utilised .
The technicians asserted that the equipment used by the colonialists, called UTM-200, differs in precision from the one they now use, called WGS 84; and that the border needs an exact demarcation.
They said the technicians went back and converted the WGS 84 to UTM 200 to arrive at the exact demarcation and that they are there to start the process of demarcating the border and promised that within 14 days, they will be done with it.
Talking on behalf of the technicians, one Mr Cham indicated that they are going to demarcate the border starting from Seleti through the disputed area of Tranquil and that in doing their job; they will be guarded by the fear of their lord and not by their nationalities.
Present at the meeting were Professor Salieu Njie the High Commissioner of Senegal to the Gambia, the Governor of West Coast Region Sifai Hydara, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Regional Administration and Lands Lamin Sanneh, Gambian and Senegalese Military Chiefs as well as Senegalo-Gambia Joint Border Commission Members.
All the speakers called on the Gambians and Senegalese Civilians and Military personnel to maintain the peace while the technicians do their job and that after the demarcation of the border, they should continue to live in peace as Gambia and Senegal comprise one people.
