Armed forces volunteer to work on village farms is this a new trend?

QUESTION OF THE DAY

What we have known in the past about the armed forces of The Gambia and the security forces is that they are moblised to work on the private farms of former president Jammeh. Now, a new trend seems to be emerging. Soldiers have taken the initiative to go and work on the farms of ordinary farmers next Saturday. This will no doubt strengthen civil/military relations. More of this can be done to strengthen civil/military relations since The Gambia is not at war.

The military must win the hearts and minds of the people they are to defend and serve and this is one way of doing it.
