ARE THE US PRESIDENT, CONGRESS, PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES AND OIC CHAIRMAN AWARE OF THE STATEMENT OF THE ISRAELI FINANCE MINISTER?

It is reported by CNN Dana Karni on Tuesday , August 6, 2024  that the  Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said “it may be just and moral” to starve 2 million Gaza residents until Israeli hostages are returned, but “no one in the world would let us.”

The speech is reported to have been made on Monday, 5th August 2024, at the Katif Conference for National Responsibility in the town of Yad Binyamin.

According to the reporter, the Finance Minister advocated for Israeli control of the aid effort “as a part or as an essential means of realising the defined goals of the war,” and said only minimal aid is needed in Gaza in the months and years to come in the following words:

“No one talks about (Israeli) military rule (of Gaza) now. No need to unclog sewers, no need for education, no need for welfare. Gaza in the next two years is (going to be) a war zone. You need food, some medicine and a minimum of sanitation – water, sewage. That’s it,”

We have repeated that Hamas’s suicidal atrocities on October 7, that led to the killing of 1200 Israelis and the abduction of 250 hostages is not in the interest of the Israeli or Palestinian peoples and measures should be taken to prevent any recurrence. In the same vein, the genocidal atrocities being carried out by Netenyahu that has resulted in the deaths of more than 39,000 people and the endless destruction of lives and properties are not serving the interest of the two peoples and should cease.

Foroyaa welcomes the decision of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in its extraordinary open-ended meeting held at the level of foreign ministers, in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday, 7 August 2024, to hold an international peace conference, and implement the two-state solution. The USA leaders should be given reminders on this subject matter. It is the US Government which pioneered the two state agenda in 1947. Its president and Congress must not turn their back at the two-state solution.

A conference is indeed needed for scholars to put the facts on the table for decision makers to take their stand.
