By Mustapha Jallow Foroyaa has been informed but not confirmed that the parents of Dawda Bojang, theEssa Bojang Fatou Sonko GNA soldier who was initially reported dead as one of the insurgents but later said to have fled to Germany, have now been transferred from the National Intelligence Agency headquarters in Banjul to the central prison at Mile Two. According to a close family source, they have got information that both Fatou Sonko and Essa Bojang, the mother and father of Dawda respectively, who were detained incommunicado at the NIA for 4 months without being released or taken to court, are now transferred to Mile Two prison. “When we heard that they were transferred, we went to Banjul to confirm with the NIA but were told by someone we met at the gate not to go there again,” he said. This reporter tried to contact the NIA on several occasions through the land phone to confirm the claim but it kept ringing without being picked up. “We are appealing to the authorities to help release our loved ones,” added the relative. The source indicated that the family is deeply worried by the state of health of the two, particularly, the father, who is said to be physically challenged. The duo was arrested at their home village of Mbankam in the North Bank Region (NBR) on 1 January 2015 by men in plain clothes, who claimed to be from Amdalai police station. They were later led to a waiting vehicle with tinted glasses and then whisked away. The family made several unsuccessful attempts to trace the two at various places such as the police stations at Amdalaye, Barra and Banjul as well as the NIA headquarters. The couple was eventually traced at the NIA in Banjul where they have been held incommunicado since then. Foroyaa, however, will continue its enquiries to ascertain the veracity of the claims.    ]]>
