Dawda Hafner, the candidate nominated by the ruling APRC party for the Half Die Ward in Banjul South Councilorship by election, has been declared unopposed by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) on Thursday, 17 September 2015, after Mulai Koroma, the only aspiring contender on an independent ticket, withdrew his challenge shortly before nomination.

Talking to this reporter, Mr. Koroma confirmed that it was his mother who prevailed on him not to contest in the by-election for the seat of the Ward Councilor following the death of the previous occupant, the late Mr. Dodou Biram Njie of the APRC, a few months ago.

Mr. Koroma further revealed that during the nomination process he was able to get more than the required number of nominees to sign on his nomination forms.
