The Anti-Crime Unit (ACU) of the Gambia Police Force on Sunday, 8 October arrested seventeen individuals in connection to assault and wilful damage of properties.

The suspects arrested are between the ages of 15 to 69, with the incident occurring in Freetown in SinchuSorrie, in the West Coast Region.

“The gang called ‘NEVER MIND’, unlawfully entered homes, committed assaults, caused damage to properties, and terrorized residents before fleeing the scene,” Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo of the Gambia Police Force informed Foroyaa. “The gang is led by one SaikouJarju known as ‘DOSER’ and has been identified by eyewitnesses and subsequently arrested.”

He reported that “several community members sustained injuries, and mobile phones including Samsung A21 and iPhone 6 models, were stolen during the incident”.

While the gang leader, SaikouJarju, is cooperating with ongoing police investigations, Superintendent Sisawo advised the public against taking the law into their own hands.
