By Sulayman Bah Darbo was unveiled as a new signing by Italian second tier’s Crotone andAlieu Darbo subsequently handed the club’s illustrious number ten jersey. The transfer had the winger taking in adulations from section of the Swedish and Italian press who’d tipped him to revel in the forthcoming league season, with little or no information made over whether or not salary have been agreed between the player and the Italian outfit. However, it has emerged that the three-year deal –signed by the 22-year-old – has been temporarily put off with Crotone –who days ago announced of the signing – dramatically revealing to its shocked fans, that the contract talks have stalled. The club considered Darbo’s representatives’ wage demands unrealistic and decided late last week to let go the player. Crotone said in a short statement of the contract saga: “Crotone Communicate (about the contract but) agreement has not been finalized for the player (AlieuDarbo).Problems have appeared with the player’s agents.” A stop to Sweden Alieu’s next destination was a proposed move to Swedish second tier side Landskrona Bois who hastily announced of the player’s signing on their website Saturday without personal terms and fee even thrashed out. Consequently Bois FC were forced to retract after they couldn’t meet Alieu’s pay demands. The situation leaves the player on the receiving end of derides from Bois-based dailies who accused the erstwhile Gambia U-20 man of seeking ridiculous fee. Reached for his side of the story, the former Le Mans and Dinamo Zagreb winger did not hesitate to refute the claims. On the failed proposed Crotone transfer Darbo told Foroyaa Sport: “About Italy, Crotone couldn’t meet the wages my agent demanded. He continued, “I never signed a contract with Landskrona which they confirmed on their website. We couldn’t agree on salary. So nothing was terminated with Landskrona because I never signed.” The current situation leaves the midfielder unattached for now amid riffed reports that efforts are being made by the player’s camp to salvage the Crotone deal by lowering their asking amount. Quizzed as to whether such is the case, he revealed: “We are still (in) negotiation with Crotone to fix it (to re-activate the contract).” Alieu was due to being the second Gambian player to have graced the Italian second division after striker Ali Sowe of Chievo Verona before the latest trajectory in the agreement.]]>
