Ravaged by a niggling injury recurrence coalesced with lack of game time, Ali Sowe was rendered helpless as he 
watched his career go under a temporary pause last season.
A nightmare that began in Pescara, where he was briefly loaned, continued to haunt the Gambian even after he was siphoned off to Latina.
Securing playing time was the idea of parent club Chievo Verona’s decision to loan the striker but that objective was defeated when Pescara failed to keep to their promise deciding Sowe was only good to watch actions from the substitutes’ bench.
Consequently growing disillusioned of being overlooked, the Gambia international taught enough was enough opting to grab a proposal to transfer to US Latina –another second division outfit – when the chance came by.
The deal rubberstamped at tail end of the last campaign it was hoped could offer the Scorpion a relief. But just when he started enjoying his game again, getting started for games, misfortune sank in. He was ruled out for rest of the season with a serious injury.
However, five months later, having undergone surgery and rehabilitation, the former Serrekunda United attacker is ready not only to prove his worth but that his stellar performance at Juve-Stabia was no fluke.
Speaking on a range of issues, including the Gambia national team, Sowe said he cannot wait for the league to resume and views the oncoming one as a ’new opportunity’ to prove his worth.
“Every year is a new opportunity to show our best,” he told Foroyaa Sport from his residence Modena, the south side of Pro Valley in Italy where he will call home until end of the 2015/2016 domestic championship.
He recently signed a 12-month deal with Modena, his fourth Italian Serie B club in 2012.
“It is only one season (on) loan basis. I will fight for Modena and for my career,” he said speaking for the first time since inking the deal.
He was initially preparing for life in the Serie A with Chievo Verona before he took another dip into the deep waters of Italy’s second most competitive football league.
This agreement means, he will now be in the same league with Lamin Jallow and Yusupha Bobb his countrymen who are loaned to AS Citdella. And sounded on this, he simply said: ‘they are both talented. I hope the best for them’
Acquired to help push the club realize promotion dream to the top flight, Sowe is under no illusions of the task hovering on his shoulders and is ready to repay the troubles club chiefs underwent to sign him by living to the billing
“I want to score goals no matter the number,” he said, before adding these phrase about the Gambia national team, while the team was in action yesterday.
