Ali Sowe has broken his one year drought in front of goal scoring to keep alive his club hopes of securing 
promotion to the Italian second tier.
The attacker has been blighted by bouts of injuries undermining his ambition to break into parent club Chievo Verona’s first team.
The 21-year-old’s last scored in 2014 netting a decisive goal for Juve Stabia against Modena – a side he would later joined months on.
From nailing five goals in his first season for Juve Stabia –featuring in over thirty games – the following season promised a lot, yet delivered little.
Sowe was loaned out to Pescara to get first-team football experience under his belt but that project suffered a spectacular failure owing to injuries coalesced with limited playing opportunities.
The situation prompted Chievo to step in again –loaning the Gambian striker to Modena, another Italian second tier side, a stint that also ended as at his previous club.
US Latina, troubled by their strikers’ profligacy in front of goal, swoop for the Scorpion to bolster their campaign to beat demotion to the third division. However, as had happened in previous clubs, Ali tumbled on another injury and on doctor’s advice, opted to take a pause from the rigours of football allowing his abrasions heal.
The erstwhile Gamtel man’s move to take a breather accorded him time to undergo rehabilitation and has now resumed club duties albeit with a third division club Lecce.
Between those nightmare moments, the former Serrekunda United front-man has gone without scoring for one year, breaking that unprepossessing record only recently. Sowe freed up himself from his marker to latch a team-mate’s pass to the back of the net before wheeling away in sheer delight.
That goal, he will hope, signals beginning of an end to his barren run of goal as he now looks to front fallen giants Lecce’s promotion drive to the Serie B.
Meanwhile, in the other group, lies Lamin Jallow’s Citadella who are top of the league.
