By RoheyJadama The Gambia Court of Appeal has again deferred the adoption of briefs in the appeal case of Mr. Amadou Sanneh, the Amadou SannehNational Treasurer of the United Democratic Party (UDP), as the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) requested for more time. When the case was called yesterday, 24 June, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, counsel for the appellant, told the court that the matter is slated for the adoption of briefs. However, Hadi Saleh Barkum, the DPP, said he was applying for an adjournment to enable them to regularise the respondent’s brief which was filed. The counsel for the appellant, however, did not object to the DPP’s application but did ask the court to adjourn the matter to 25 June (today) for the adoption of briefs. The court granted the application and had thus adjourned the matter. Mr.Sanneh is appealing against his conviction by Justice Emmanuel Nkea of the Special Criminal Division of the Banjul High Court to serve five years for sedition related charges and five years for conspiracy both of which are to run concurrently. He was sentenced on the 18 December 2013 in a trial which lasted for about three months.  ]]>
