Accident in Kiang Nemakuta left 6 dead & 13 hospitalised

An accident near Kiang Nemakunku has left six dead, and thirteen critically injured on Thursday.

Those critically injured are currently receiving treatment at Soma Health Center, Farafenni Hospital, and Banjul Hospitals.

The accident has been confirmed by the Gambia Police Force.

The accident involved a sprinter van and a lorry that collided causing the fatalites and injuries.

‘Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident occurred due to a collision between the sprinter van and a truck, possibly caused by an overtaking maneuver involving another vehicle, a pickup, which fled the scene after the incident,’ the Police said.

The third vehicle, a pickup, that is suspected to cause the accident, has not been identified by Police.

Meanwhile, the Police urged the public, especially drivers, to adhere strictly to traffic regulations, including speed limits.
