By Abdoulie Dibba Today, Friday 10th April 2015, marks 15 years since the tragic event which led to the death of 14 students by gun shots with live bullets as students call for justice after Ebrima Barry died as a result of inhumane and degrading punishment.Abdoukarim Jammeh, one of the victims who sustained gun shot wounds but survived with a disabled left leg informed Foroyaa in an interview on Thursday that the tragic event has left an indelible mark on him that he would forever live to remember. He described the event as the darkest days in the history of Gambian students when a peaceful protest march of unarmed students ended tragically claiming the lives of 14 students who died from gunshots as well as the physical injury of many students like himself.. “I am calling on the Government to ensure that justice takes its course,” stated Abdoukarim Jammeh. He indicated that the matter should not be brushed aside only to be forgotten when justice has not been done to console the victims. Abdoukarim indicated that after 15 years of being disabled as a result of the event, he is yet to receive any significant attention from the state in terms of physical rehabilitation or securing his future. He concluded by calling on all Gambians to remember and pray for the fallen students so that their souls would rest in perfect peace and for the living victims to recover. He called the Government to observe April 10 and 11 as a National Holiday.]]>
