President Trump’s Abrahamic accord was based on the notion that Muslims, Jews and Christians owe their religions to Abraham and therefore should be able to co-exist in peace in the Middle East. Now that accord is being torn into shreds by desperate Palestinian movements that are preparing themselves for suicidal attacks against the Israeli people while the Israeli government is preparing for genocidal attacks against the Palestinian people.
The desperate movements of the weak and the strong will ultimately lead to the death of all and the survival of none. The logic of revenge only leads to permanent war and no peace. Only the logic of ceasefire, mediation, negotiation, repentance and reconciliation could lead to survival and good neighbourliness.
The options for Israel and Palestine are clear. A war for mutual extinction for two populations of just a few million or the exercise of magnanimity to put the past behind the two peoples and move towards a two-state solution aimed at reconciliation and movement towards peaceful co-existence of peoples who are desperate to live together independent of their will.
