President Barrow is supposed to lay the foundation stone for a five-star hotel on premises that is supposed to be a medical centre. This has brought much controversy. Argument that is brought by the state is that the hotel facility serves the OIC meeting. The strong arm of the state has silenced all critiques on the ground. However, public opinion is still waiting for answers.
When will this OIC meeting take place? Why is the hotel vital for the meeting? Is the hotel a public/private partnership that will ultimately serve the public interest or a private company venture that will only serve personal interest?
It is President Barrow who in his statement to the public in the laying of the foundation stone that should explain how public interest is served by taking over the facility to serve the OIC meeting. We therefore hope that the nation will have all the information it needs to be able to form a fair opinion on the subject matter when he lays the foundation stone, which was scheduled to take place next Saturday.
