By Sulayman Bah Gambian captain Mustapha Toubabo Jarju is training with former club SK Lierse following his release by RAEC Mons, Foroyaa Sport can report. Toubabo joins Lierse’s sessions after the elapse of his two-and-half-year deal with relegated RAEC Mons who now plies in the second tier. The 27-year-old was left in the cold with others preferred in the strike role for majority of last season before being forced to play for Mon’s reserve team in the tail end of his contract. Mons dubbed the Dragon, had a chance of chasing the Gambian international with four months to his current deal to avoid losing him on a free after transfer, Lierse made enquiries to sign the forward. But the club hierarchy decided against risking selling to a club who, like them, are also in the relegation dog fight and considering Jarju’s potent in front of goal. The Belgian side preferred keeping the player and allowing him to leave at end of his contract. Jarju is currently taking part in training sessions with Lierse ahead of sealing a move. It is however unclear whether SK Lierse are keen on snapping up his services with rarely any reports on contract talks being considered. ]]>
