All eyes will be on Papa Gassama as he targets scooping Africa’s best referee of the year award for the second time this week.
Gambia’s record-making Bakary Papa Gassama, who won the award last year, is one of four nominees vying for the gong.
Scheduled to be held this Thursday, The Glo-Caf awards is to be staged in Nigeria, Abuja 7th January 2016. Gassama, the first Gambian to officiate in a World Cup match last year, competes with Alioum Neant of Cameroon, Eric Arnaud Otogo Castane of Gabon, Ghead Zaglol Grisha of Egypt
and Janny Sikazwe of Zambia for the prestigious silverware.
In a year that has seen his grades blossom, the 37-year-old reached new heights when he became the first African to oversee a Qatar Stars’ League game.
