The National Food Security Processing & Marketing Corporation (NFSC) has announced in a press release that the groundnut 
marketing season commences today, Monday 28 December.
NFSC, formerly Gambia Groundnut Corporation (GGC) has also disclosed in the press release that “the farm gate price for groundnuts during the 2015/2016 groundnut marketing season has been pegged at D15,250 (fifteen thousand two hundred and fifty Dalasi) per tonne (or 15.25 per kg). Equally the depot price is set at Dl6,500 (sixteen thousand five hundred Dalasi) per tonne.”
The groundnut marketing season will close on 31 March 2016.
The release also indicated that crop purchase finance funds have already been disbursed to the Cooperative Produce Marketing Societies (CPMS) for immediate purchase of groundnuts from producers.
Farmers have also been cautioned to act fast as infested crops will not be accepted.
