We expected that since the media has the role of holding the government accountable to the people that the government would extend special invitation to all media houses to give coverage to the Presidential tour. This would have given it an executive character.
Secondly, a major disaster is looming as farmlands submerge under water. The affected areas needed to be quantified and the viability of Vision 2016 assessed.
This would provide a sound basis for determining how much rice would be imported in 2016 and importers alerted in advance to prevent any rice shortage because of inappropriate signals from the state on its policy on rice importation in 2016.
Farmer’s Eye would do a follow up to keep the people informed of the challenges confronting the farming community.
