IS THE CASE OF THE AUDITOR GENERAL BEING HELD IN CAMERA OR NOT?

99

Foroyaa will find out from the office of the chief justice what is happening to the case of the Auditor General who has been replaced with questions still hanging on the constitutionality of this replacement.

Courts are supposed to be independent and impartial adjudicating authorities. The media covers court cases not only to keep the population informed of the content of proceedings but also to keep courts on their guard in their manner of dispensation of justice.

Courts are not islands to themselves. They are to adhere to rules of procedure with the aim of ensuring independent and impartial dispensation of justice. Hence in reporting court proceedings with accuracy in good faith in the public interest, the media contributes to the delivery of quality justice.

Hence Foroyaa strongly advises the courts, as the last port of call for the protection of rights, to open up to the media so that dispensation of justice will be done with transparency and accountability. Opaque court proceedings are an anathema to the delivery of transparent, accountable and quality justice. Justice will never be seen to be done when court proceedings are opaque.

Foroyaa will contact the office of the chief justice to find out the details of the preliminary of the case that was heard by the chief justice in preparation for the which we hope will be heard by a full bench of the supreme court.
