Bakary Jallow, widely known on TikTok as “Sky Boy,” was assaulted with a cutlass by his landlord, Modou Njie, causing him grievous bodily harm. On Monday, 25th August, the accused appeared before Magistrate Isatou Jallow, where he accepted the charge and pleaded guilty to the offence.
ASP Kinteh appeared for the Inspector General of Police in the matter, while the accused, Modou Njie, was unrepresented. The charge was read out to him by the court officer, and he pleaded guilty. Magistrate Jallow then entered the plea of guilty on behalf of the accused.
According to the charge, on the 30th day of July at Bijilo, Modou Njie unlawfully caused grievous harm to Bakary Jallow, contrary to section 181 of the Criminal Offences Act, 2025. The particulars of the offence stated that Njie assaulted Jallow with a cutlass on his head, causing grievous harm.
In her ruling, Magistrate Jallow said she could not grant bail to the accused because his action of assaulting the victim could lead to further harm, given that both are residing in the same compound. She further noted that since the accused has already accepted the crime, making him a convict, the court cannot grant him bail but must remand him at Mile II.
However, Magistrate Jallow stated that she will not impose the full sentence or punishment on the convict because he admitted to the crime and did not waste the court’s time. She indicated that the sentence may be reduced by up to 33 percent for accepting the truth.
The case has been adjourned to 28th August 2025 for narration of facts by ASP Kinteh and subsequent sentencing.
