DID THE WORLD EVER IMAGINE COUNTRIES ISSUING NUCLEAR THREATS AGAINST EACH OTHER?

29

During the worst time of the cold war moving into continental ballistic missiles, within the range of the countries that were called the super powers, deployment of nuclear weapons was objected to, and generally crises were prevented by resorting to mutual agreements to prevent such deployments. This was the key doctrine to keep countries safe. It is unbelievable that Nato led by the US and Russia are beginning to change their doctrine in the use of nuclear weapons at a time when there is active war between Russia and Ukraine, with Russia moving nuclear weapons and long range missiles to Belarus while Ukraine demands long range missiles that could reach deep  into Russia.

What does the future hold? This should be a concern for all humans. The recent adventuring in the use of missiles in Iran and Israel should teach all nations that no nuclear war could be won. The only possible outcome is to reduce the contending countries into deserts polluted by radiation that would make life impossible to live for eternity.

Leaders who inherited a United nations some 80 years ago to prevent a world war for eight decades should not earn themselves the dishonour of being responsible of a nuclear catastrophe that would reduce human society to beasts without nations.
