The Gambia Local Government Association has commenced a three-day training for staff and stakeholders of the Banjul City Council (BCC) at McCarthy Square.
Began on Monday, July 28, training aims to enhance understanding and implementation of Gender Balanced Budgeting and strategies for local government authorities’ revenue generation.
The training series also intends to cover crucial topics, including Gender Responsive Budgeting, Public Financing, and Gender Budget Disaggregation. These discussions are designed to equip participants with the necessary tools to create budgets that consider gender equity and inclusivity, ensuring that resources are allocated fairly among all members of the community.
This initiative is being made possible through the generous support of the European Union in The Gambia and UNDP The Gambia as part of the EU-UNDP GREAT Project. The Ministry of Lands, Regional Government, and Religious Affairs is facilitating the training, which seeks to empower local government officials and stakeholders in navigating complex budgetary frameworks while emphasizing gender considerations.
Participants are expected to engage in interactive sessions that will encourage dialogue and collaboration among various stakeholders, aimed at fostering a more equitable allocation of resources within the municipality.
As the training unfolds, stakeholders hope to implement the insights gained into their fiscal policies, ultimately enhancing the quality of public services and community welfare.
