It is very common for policy makers to refer to those they classify as vulnerable groups in society. Such groups comprise people living below the poverty line. The lack of support for the unemployed and underpaid persons in the country has made more than half the population of the country to live the life of destitution.
Foroyaa has been receiving complaints from many socially disadvantaged persons seeking support. The practice has been initiated by writing letters to the social welfare department, referring vulnerable persons for support. It is surprising that most people referred would come back to report that funds were not available to address their concerns.
The minister and the department should issue a press release to indicate the type of support they are giving to vulnerable groups. Foroyaa will try to interview the authorities who are exercising direction and control over this department.
