This question was posed to Halifa Sallah and he gave the following answer:
This depends on whether the mindset of the crop of the current leaders of world prevail, or the interests of the various peoples of the world, who share a common destiny. The people of the United States, Iran, Israel, Lebanon, Palestine and the world at large share a common destiny. If there is nuclear catastrophe, they are the ones who will perish from the face of the earth and endure the destructive effect of radiative contamination for eternity.
This would constitute the greatest betrayal of human civilisation and the future generation of humankind.
Unfortunately, the current crop of leaders of the world are each talking about how to increase their investment in the production of instruments of weapons of mass destruction instead of discussing on how to obliterate them. Instead of holding conferences on how to establish a two state solution in the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, a stable environment of governments in Syria and Lebanon, derived from and thriving on the will and consent of the Lebanese and Syrian peoples and encouraging those who manage the Israeli and Iranian states to settle their dispute peacefully and cultivate the spirit of good neighbourliness, the focus is on demonizing each other and prioritising conferences on how to build military arsenal in the name of making each nation first in the world. As long as such a mentality prevails a nuclear catastrophe could not be ruled out.
It should be recognized that all the nuclear possessing countries of the world are mutually distrustful of each other. They are all struggling for spheres of influence over those who do not possess nuclear weapons. This may serve as a deterrent to the use of nuclear weapons in the current wars of the world.
However, the recent attack of nuclear sites is another indication to the world that nuclear war could be conducted by other means. This puts countries that possess nuclear weapons in danger of being consumed by radiation from their own nuclear sites. In this regard the world leaders should go back to the negotiating table and discuss how to put an end to the current menace.
The world is closer to a nuclear catastrophe because the doctrine that one could prevent a country from possessing nuclear weapons by bombing nuclear installations without knowing or caring whether there will be radiative contamination or not.
World leaders have a case to answer. Are they going to be peace makers or war mongers? The words and practice of the leaders of the world in these coming days and weeks will be monitored. History is holding its pen and posterity is sitting on the judgment seat preparing its judgment. Will the leaders of the world today be absolved or condemned for betraying human civilisation? History will provide the evidence and posterity will pass the judgment.
