Adama sets for Beijing World Championship

By Sulayman Bah Gambia will tomorrow unleash track sensation Adama Jammeh for the International Athletics Adama JammehAssociation World Championship in Beijing. Jammeh is the sole man to represent Gambia in the big event where he will come head on with the record beaters of the field in the 200m first round.Gambians from around the world watched a delightful Suwaibou Sanneh and captain Badou Jack star in the 2008 Olympic Games where the Republic of China’s capital Beijing was host city. However,  on the anniversary of the Games, seven years now, Adama wish is to fly Gambia’s flag higher that initially flown. But to do that, he will have to mix it with the big boys of the field like his compatriot Suwaibou Sanneh did in the London Games, albeit as a medal-chaser,this time round. He reels to tomorrow 200m men race at tip top form, having been part of an all-flying Gambia team that conquered the Senegalese nationals and the sub-regional Mbour championship. His race begins 11:30 am local Gambian time with semis set for a day later at 12:30 pm. The last time a Gambian has reached semi-finals at a world athletics event was in 2012 when Suwaibou Sanneh participated in the London Olympics, clocking a national record timing of 10 .18.]]>
