Teenager Seeks Overseas Medical Assistance

15-year-old Musa Touray is seeking overseas medical assistance to facilitate the treatment of his complicated illness outside the Gambia.   

According to his medical report, the 15-year-old had a history of palpitations and dizziness for 21 days. This symptom usually lasts for about 30 minutes, especially if he is praying, which has repeated for 7 days, no fever, no dyspnea. 

His medical report shows no sign of a sore throat or skin infection. Vitals: Temperature: 36.5 oc Pulse: 72 bpm, Osat: weight: 71kg RR: 20 cpm Height: 1.83m BP: 120/66 mmHg.

“Cardiovascular System: No neck congestion, apex beats 5 lines. No palpable heaves or thrill. Pansystolic murmur maximal at the apical area radiating to the left Axilla, grade 3. Diagnosis: Rheumatic Heart Disease. Echo: severe mitral regurgitation + mild Aortic regurgitation,” the report indicated.

The Touray family said they have visited several health facilities but have found no solution to the illness of their loved one.  “Our son was admitted and underwent a minor treatment.  After receiving the treatment, we went home but could not regain our health,” the family narrated. 

The Touray Family said the hospital management informed them that their child needs to go for overseas medical treatment to regain his health.

“We have spent the little income we had on him. Currently, we do not have the financial muscles to foot his overseas medical bills,” the family narrated.
