Gambian-born international Yusupha Sanyang is set to join Czech giants SK Slavia Praha in a permanent transfer from Östers IF who returned to the Swedish top tier, Allsvenskan. Östers secured Yusupha’s services months ago but his skill set has already manifested in the Sweden league and suitors are coming for him.

According to local reports from Gamfoot and football transfer specialist Foday Manneh, both clubs have held talks for the player’s transfer. A fee of €3 million (which is over 244 million dalasis) is reported to have been reached, which would be a record transfer for Östers IF.

Yusupha joined Östers from Senegalese club Teungueth FC for a reported €120,000 in January 2025. The 19-year-old forward has represented neighbours Senegal at the youth level, but there is optimism that he will play for the Scorpions at the senior level.

Slavia Praha are set to return to Champions League football next season after six years of absence, thus the need to strengthen their squad. If Yusupha, who is reported to be keen on the move, joins the champions of the Czech league, he will become one of the few Gambian professionals who have graced the world’s elite football competition.
