A Gambian delegation led by the Gambia Basketball Association (GBA) has returned from Thies in Senegal where they participated at the Hoop Forum.
The Hoop Forum is the SEED Project’s annual event in Senegal that brings together nonprofits, corporations, and individuals that use sports as a tool for development across Africa.
The GBA was invited to a 3-day camp from 23rd to 25th April 2025to grace the event’s 23rd edition joining other countries in Africa including hosts Senegal, Mali, Benin, and Ghana etc.
The delegation comprised four executive members (President Ndongo Camara, 1st Vice President Mullie Jammeh, 2nd Vice President Abubacarr Gillen, and Secretary General Aliou Njan), 10 basketball ballers (five males and five females) and seven coaches (one female and six males), and GBA communication officer Kassim Sissoko (Oscar). Kassim informed this medium that all the players took part in games organised at the camp where outstanding players joined the All Star games.

“In the boys’ category, Foday G Sowe, a player from Serekunda East Hope Academy, made it to the All Star games, while Alasan Senghore and Zainab Mboob from Letitfly Academy in Gambia also made it to the All Star games in the girls’ category.
“Kebab Faal, a coach and player for Kotu Blue Ninjas, and Daniel Nyaki, head coach of the Gambia national U-16 team, managed their teams to reach the All Star games,” Kassim explained, while adding that basketball agents from Germany and France where at the camp to scout players.
Kassim, who is also a journalist with Star TV, said the GBA executive members used the event to network with basketball administrators and/or actors including the founder of SEED Project Senegal who also doubles as the President of Basketball Africa League (BAL) Amadou Gallo Fall.
