The Gambia U-15 girls will play two matches today in the CAF Pan African Schools Football Championship after their yesterday’s scheduled face off against DR Congo was cancelled due to the late arrival of the Congolese team.

The Gambian girls will face Ugandan girls in their opener at 10am before pitching up against South African girls in the afternoon (2pm) for their second match.

The Gambia are pitted against Uganda, DR Congo and South Africa in Group B in the four-day championship with a total of eight national teams. The top two teams from the group will qualify for the semi-finals to be played on Friday before the tournament wraps with the third place and final on Saturday, 26th April 2025.

Speaking to the press ahead of today’s encounters, the head coach of the Gambian girls Amadou Jatta shared his optimism that they will do well in the competition.

“We are not taking anything for granted because these are the best teams that we will be facing. We have a duty to represent our people and country well and this tournament gives us that opportunity against the best teams on the continent,” he said.

Hosted by Ghana, the tournament will take place at the University of Ghana between 23 – 26 April, with matches broadcast live on CAF’s Official YouTube channel, CAF TV.
