Registrar of Companies Marie Therese Gomez reappeared before the National Assembly’s joint committee on Wednesday, 23 April 2025, to submit crucial documents in the ongoing parliamentary inquiry into the controversial petroleum product deal.

The inquiry concerns a petroleum consignment of 36,953.614 metric tons, valued at US$30 million—approximately D2.1 billion. It is being spearheaded by the joint committee of the Finance and Public Accounts Committee (FPAC) and the Public Enterprise Committee (PEC).

Gomez had previously testified before the joint committee and was tasked with submitting documentation relating to companies allegedly involved in the scandal.

During her reappearance, the registrar handed over incorporation documents for JT Energy Gambia Limited, Creed Energy Limited, and Cross Breed Holding Company Limited. She also submitted additional documents for Ultimate Beigee Logistics and registration records for companies incorporated between 2021 and 2023.

Asked specifically about Apogee, Gomez stated, “I submitted the one on Apogee FZE during the last engagement.”

The Co-Chairperson of the joint committee, Hon. Alhagie S. Darboe, confirmed receipt of the documents.

“We have received documents from the Registrar of Companies, three in hard copies and the additional one and the soft copy, and this is what we requested from the registrar, which necessitated her reappearance before the committee today,” he said.

Meanwhile, the scheduled appearance of Creed Energy Company, initially set for Tuesday, 22nd April 2025, has been postponed to next week due to the absence of its officials.

The committee aims to use the testimonies and documentation collected to make evidence-based recommendations, possibly leading to actions against individuals implicated in the matter.
