Reports from the Gambia Police Force (GPF) indicate that one Ebou Secka, who was implicated in the alleged murder of Ebrima Ceesay, has been re-arrested in Senegal through the collaboration of the police and other security counterparts in the sister Republic of Senegal, after his dramatic escape from police custody on December 19th 2024. Mr Secka is allegedly linked to the mysterious disappearance of Ebrima Ceesay, the missing taxi driver whose case shocked the nation when he was reported missing on July 18, 2024. However days later, a body was discovered in a pond in Kampant village in Foni district, but it was not until December 2024 after months of denial, that Ceesay’s family confirmed that the body was their son’s.
Secka’s arrest is in connection to the above case, and was remanded for a previous robbery charge while police continued to investigate the matter.
However on December 19th 2024, Secka was alleged to have made a daring escape after slipping through the security net. Since then, law enforcement authorities launched a full-scale manhunt for the suspect in order to bring him back to book.
The Gambia Police Force in its message reassured it is committed to ensure that justice is served and the matter is handled with utmost fairness and transparency, and further reassured the Gambian public of the GPF’s dedication in upholding the rule of law.
