The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) on Thursday, 13 March, 2025 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Zenith Bank to improve the country’s revenue collection system.

The agreement is designed to enhance transparency and accountability in tax payments across the nation. It also simplifies the process for taxpayers, who will now be able to make payments at any Zenith Bank branch nationwide, reducing both costs and inconvenience.

On February 20, 2025, the GRA had signed a similar MoU with Agib Bank, another leading commercial bank in The Gambia, to streamline tax collection and promote greater financial transparency.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the GRA headquarters, was attended by officials from both institutions (GRA and Zenith Bank) including members of the GRA Board.

In his address before the signing, Yankuba Darboe, Commissioner General of the GRA, highlighted the importance of this partnership with Zenith Bank. He explained that the MoU will significantly ease business interactions between taxpayers and the GRA, strengthening the authority’s revenue collection mechanisms while enhancing transparency and accountability.

Mr Essa Jallow, Deputy Commissioner General of the GRA, also expressed gratitude to Zenith Bank for partnering with the authority. He emphasized that banks play a critical role as extensions of the GRA, serving as the authority’s presence outside its headquarters.

“Our goal is not just to collect revenue, but to ensure the quality and efficiency of the services we provide, making sure that taxpayers receive the satisfaction they deserve for their contributions,” he stated.

Mr. Mustapha I. Kabiru, Managing Director of Zenith Bank, expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to collaborate with the GRA. He assured that Zenith Bank would work to ensure the process is efficient and effective in mobilizing revenue for the country.
