In a heart-warming show of community spirit, QCell’s QNdogou Initiative was launched on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at the QCity grounds, marking the 17th year of this charitable program. As Ramadan approaches, QCell’s tradition of giving back to The Gambia’s underprivileged communities continues to grow, with the initiative now set to reach over 300 locations across the country, from Banjul to Koina.

QNdogou, an annual initiative of QCell, provides essential food items like rice, sugar, and dates to vulnerable groups ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, which is observed by Muslims as a month of fasting and reflection. This year’s distribution will focus on madrassas, mosques, orphanages, prisons, and differently abled groups, ensuring that people in every region and constituency of the country can benefit.

The initiative’s roots trace back to Imam Mass Jah, the father of QGroup CEO Muhammed Jah, who first conceived the idea. Since its inception, QNdogou has been a symbol of giving, unity, and compassion—values central to the spirit of Ramadan.

Reflecting on the program’s impact, Muhammed Jah shared his pride in the initiative’s growing reach: “We are proud to say that each year, this initiative has grown in its reach and impact, and this year, we are set to visit over 300 locations. As we prepare to enter this sacred time of the Holy Month of Ramadan, we reflect on the countless lives that have been touched by this initiative, and the immeasurable positive changes we have witnessed in communities nationwide.”

Jah emphasized that QCell’s role extends beyond business, with a firm belief in supporting the communities it serves. “In this, we continue to strengthen the SUNU BUSS Slogan which we strongly believe in,” he said. The initiative embodies QCell’s mission of corporate responsibility and community strengthening, especially during Ramadan.

With a focus on solidarity and charity, Jah stressed that this time of year is about sharing the blessings they’ve received. “Our hope is that this initiative serves as a beacon of hope and compassion for the beneficiaries and fosters a deeper sense of unity among us all,” he said, encouraging other businesses, both large and small, to follow suit and support Gambian communities during the holy month.

Lamin Yaffa, QCell’s Head of Sales and Distribution, also highlighted the initiative’s growth. “Each year, QNdogou has grown in its reach and impact,” Yaffa said, expressing gratitude to customers who have supported the initiative. “We believe and pray that years to come will be even bigger and better, where we will be able to distribute to every Gambian.”

The event also garnered praise from the Supreme Islamic Council, with Imam Basir Drammeh offering prayers for Muhammed Jah and QGroup’s continued success. Foday Essa Darboe, President of the Supreme Islamic Council, echoed this sentiment, praying for Allah’s guidance and urging all Gambians to support the initiative. As the distribution process continues across the country, Baye Sheikh Jah, Head of QNdogou, reassured the public of a respectful and peaceful distribution to all beneficiaries. QNdogou stands as a powerful testament to the spirit of giving that defines Ramadan and serves as an inspiration for all to contribute to the well-being of their fellow Gambians.
