WHO STOPPED THE MEDINA DARU CPMS FROM BUYING GNUTS?

The nation was informed that the GGC lost 40 million dalasi in the 2023/2024 groundnut trade season due to mismanagement by Cooperative Produccer Marketing Society (CPMS). The government promised that to prevent recurrence by restructuring the coop marketing system.

The director general of cooperatives was empowered to provide certificates to all qualified cooperative producer marketing societies and their officers.

The Qmoney authorities are provided the names of these oficers by the coordinator and liaison of the federation of cooperatives. This process was completed before the 2024/2025 trade season.

All the 96 CPMS should have been in operation. Foroyaa began to monitor their operation in order to assess whether there are any departures from the agreed structures or interference in their operations.

Mamudfana was discovered to lack a certified cooperative society and this was referred to all the authorities for redress.

Foroyaa has also discovered gross interference in the operation of the Medina Daru CPMS. The registered officers of the certified CPMS were stopped from operating. An investigatiion into the case reveals that they are not stopped by the director general of cooperatives or the coordinator of the federation of cooperatives. The GGC also indicated that they are not aware of the incident.

At the moment it appears that there is an invisible hand behind the stoppage.

The cooperatives movement is not supposed to be politicised in anyway. Qualification is what matters.

Foroyaa will contact the ministry of agriculture to find out whether it has any hand in the stoppage of the work of the certified Medina Daru CPMS.

The interference of invisible hands in the management of established institutions is a sign of misrule and bad governance which should not be tolerated by any government.
