The Public Relations Officer of the Gambia Police Force, Cadet Assistant Superintendent Modou Musa Sisawo, on Monday reported an armed robbery incident that took place at the Gambia National Petroleum Company (GNPC) fuel station in Farafenni.
“In the early hours of Monday, 13th January 2025, armed robbers attacked Farafenni GNPC fuel station in the North Bank Region, targeting Police officers on duty. Two PIU officers were on duty when the robbers opened fire. One officer sustained injuries but courageously returned fire, engaging the attackers,” PRO Sisawo said.
He said the injured officer is receiving medical treatment, and investigations are ongoing as they pursue leads to apprehend the suspects.
The PRO of the Gambia Police Force said the police remain committed to strengthening security and will provide timely updates as the situation unfolds.
